We start this tour off with the most iconic location of the first season - the exterior of MacLeod & Noel Antiques. The interiors of the store, workshop, and loft apartment were all filmed on a sound stage at The Bridge Studios in Burnaby, but the exterior shots and scenes were filmed in Blood Alley Square in Gastown.
The building next to the antique store, where Billy falls from the fire-escape in 'The Darkness', has been completely remodeled with new windows and no fire-escape.
Opposite the antique store, across the alley, are the stairs Richie and Joe Scanlon walk down in 'Family Tree'.
Looking up the alley in the other direction, the Spinning Wheel Hotel building is visible on Carrall Street. Also visible from this angle is the back of the building used as the rear of the Kenneth Gord Publications building in 'The Watchers'.
Slan sits in his car in Blood Alley Square, at the entrance to Trounce Alley, watching Tessa walk up the alley from Abbott Street. Also, Devereaux follows Felicia up the alley as she walks to the antique store in 'Free Fall'.

These were taken from the Seaside Bicycle Route near Burrard St Bridge. |
This would have been a beautiful location, if it hadn't been raining and completely overcast/foggy. Stupid, stupid, stupid rain. |
The sword fights take place on the south side of the bridge, which is currently open to eastbound bicyclists only. Westbound bicyclists and all pedestrian traffic must use the north side of the bridge. An establishing shot from 'Deadly Medicine' (re-used in 1x13 & 4x08) shows the east end of the bridge.

MacLeod's "island" is actually just a cabin next to a small run-off pond at the base of the Mystery Peak Express ski lift. The other side of the cabin was used as Hoskins' ranch house. It rained A LOT the day we were up in the mountains, so the photos aren't the greatest.
