Eurominutes: The full version of this episode runs 48 minutes, but for the domestic (US) market, this was cut shorter for commercials. "Eurominutes" are those 4-5 minutes that European fans got to see but US fans missed out on when the episodes originally aired. (Subsequent reruns on USANetwork and SciFi/Syfy may or may not adhere to the original domestic cut.) Huge thanks to Gillian Horvath for providing the tape of the official domestic cut of this episode, as it was released by the studio for the US stations.

~Official Eurominutes are bolded.
~Rerun on Syfy (2010) matches the official cut, with two exceptions.

TEASER

Junkyard 1

[Alan, working on motorcycle, senses 'buzz', looks around, sees Mikey.]

Alan - Mikey, it's you. Hey, you found your train.

Mikey - [holding wooden toy train, approaches Alan] Can I help?

Alan - Absolutely. You think you can help me with my tools?

Mikey - Yes. I can.

Alan - It would be easier if you put down the train first, Mikey.

Mikey - First steam locomotive built by Richard Trevithick in 1804... for Penydarren Iron Works in Wales. Carried twenty-five tons. [takes tool box from Alan]

Alan - You don't say? [as Mikey struggles with toolbox] Here, I--I'll get that.

Mikey - No, I can do it. I can do it. [carries toolbox] All aboard. Whoo! Whoo!

Helen - Lunch. [walks toward them] How's your helper doing?

Alan - He's taking a load of machinery into town.

Mikey - [sets toolbox down] Carried twenty-five tons!

<Helen - CUT [laughs] Then you must be pretty hungry. Something wrong, Mikey? Alan? [Alan senses 'buzz'.] Is it an Immortal?>

Alan - Mikey, go with Helen.

Mikey - No, Mikey can help.

Alan - Not with this.

Mikey - Stupid rules.

Alan - Helen, take him to the bus and keep him down. I don't want him to see this.

Helen - Let's go, Mikey. Hurry.

Mikey - I'm not a kid.

Alan - Mikey, listen to me. This is important. Okay? [Mikey nods.] Now go to the bus and keep quiet. [to Helen] Go. Go.

Helen - [leads Mikey toward bus] Come on, Mikey.

Mikey - Shh. Alan said be quiet.

Helen - [reaches door of old school bus] In there.

Mikey - No. I don't wanna go. I wanna stay.

Helen - Get in, Mikey.

Mikey - No, I don't like it in there. I want to stay outside.

Helen - Mikey, get in!

Mikey - No. No.

Helen - Mikey, get in! [pushes him inside] Get down. Come on. That's it. That's it. [They crouch inside the bus -- an empty shell, with all the seats removed.]

[Outside, Tyler King strolls toward Alan. They circle each other, swords drawn, then begin to fight.]

Mikey - [watches swordfight through bus windows] No. Alan needs me.

Helen - No, Mikey!

Mikey - Shh-shh.... Helen, Helen, quiet. Quiet. Quiet.

[Outside, King slashes Alan across the belly.]

Helen - Alan!

Mikey - [grabs her, keeping her from leaving the bus] No. No. No. No.

Helen - [as Alan falls to his knees, muffled] Mikey, you're hurting me. Mikey!

Mikey - [his hand over Helen's mouth] Shh-shh. Helen. Helen.

Helen - [muffled] Oh, my God!

Mikey - Helen. Shh. [squeezes her so hard that her neck snaps]

[Outside, King beheads Alan.]

Mikey - Shh. Helen. [lays her down] Helen? [looks out bus windows as Quickening begins, then exits bus & runs away]

OPENING CREDITS

ACT ONE

Country road 2

Mikey - [offscreen] Train go fast. Train go fast. Train go fast. [senses 'buzz' as RR approaches on motorcycle] Oh, no. Not again. [RR senses 'buzz', pulls to stop at side of road, takes off helmet & looks around.] No more. Make it stop. Stop. No. No.

RR - Who's there?

Mikey - [stumbles into view, still holding the toy train] I'm hungry. [RR looks him over, pulls out granola bar & hands it to him.] Thank you. [RR nods. Mikey quickly finishes the bar. King watches them through binoculars from a distance.] More?

RR - Sorry. You, uh... you from around here? [Mikey looks around, shakes his head.] Are you lost? Where's your home?

Mikey - Nobody's home.

RR - I'm headed that way. [points up road] Up the coast.

Mikey - Coast Starlight passes through twenty-two tunnels in Oregon.

RR - [chuckles] Is that a fact?

Mikey - Fact: Amtrak founded, 1971.

RR - You want to come with me? [Mikey nods.] All right. [gets back on bike] Well, come on. All aboard. [puts helmet on]

Mikey - All aboard! [gets on behind RR] Um, my name's Mikey.

RR - How're you doing, Mikey? I'm Richie. [reaches over his shoulder to shake Mikey's hand]

[King watches through binoculars as they ride away.]

Loft above dojo 0

DM - [into phone] Yes, I know the grounds haven't been kept up. [pause] Yes, I know about the roof. [pause] No, I don't want to see anything else. I just want to know whether the offer's been accepted. [pause] Great. Then send me the papers. [pause] Thanks. [turns phone off, senses 'buzz' as RR & Mikey arrive on elevator] Hi.

RR - Hey.

DM - So, what do you think? [hands flyer to RR]

RR - [looks at flyer] It's a wreck. [notes asking price] It's an expensive wreck.

DM - Yeah, exactly. I just bought it.

Mikey - Hi.

DM - Hi.

RR - Mac, say hello to Mikey.

DM - Hi, Mikey. I'm Duncan. [shakes his hand]

Mikey - Duncan, Oklahoma -- on Wichita-Fort Worth line, between Chickasha and Red River bridge.

DM - I'm very glad to know that.

RR - Mikey, Mac's my best friend.

Mikey - "Best Friend of Charleston" -- Christmas Day, 1830 -- South Carolina. One hundred, forty-one passengers. First scheduled train in the United States. [wanders over to table, picks up ornate mantel clock DM was working on in previous episode]

DM - [to RR] Where'd you find him?

RR - About twenty miles south of Greenville. He was just wandering in the middle of nowhere.

DM - [notices what Mikey is doing] Uh, Mikey, that's, uh -- Be careful with that, Mikey. That's, that's--

Mikey - [breaks hand off clock face] Sorry. [hands broken piece & clock to DM] Sorry.

DM - That's okay. That's okay.

RR - Mikey, why don't we go outside or something? Take a walk?

Mikey - Walk. Walk is good. [heads toward elevator]

RR - He was in the middle of nowhere, Mac. I couldn't just leave him. When you find somebody who's helpless, you've got to protect him, right? [follows Mikey]

Flashback - Dakota Territory, 1868 - trail through woods 3

[Super: Dakota Territory 1868]

[DM rides along trail, hears sound of whip cracking & man laughing.]

Spice - [wielding bullwhip] Stand still, you worthless bastard! I own your sorry ass. [curls whip around Chaske's legs, pulls him down] Now I got ya! [cracks whip across Chaske's back] Boy, I got to teach you so you won't be running away again. [continues to whip Chaske]

DM - [rides up, dismounts] I think you've made your point.

Spice - You want to stay healthy, mister, you'd best ride on.

DM - Sorry, can't do that.

Spice - This Indian is bought and paid for. Where I come from, you don't come between a man and his property.

DM - Guess we come from different places.

Spice - Whoo! [laughs] It's your hide. [lashes whip at DM. DM dodges, grabs whip & pulls it out of Spice's hand. Spice pulls rifle from horse's pack.] Son of a bitch. [DM whips rifle from Spice's hands, then lashes him across the face.] Damn you.

DM - A smart man would ride out right now.

Spice - I'll see you again. Both of you! [unties his horses] Come on. [leaves]

Chaske - He will not forget this.

DM - I hope not. My name's MacLeod. [helps Chaske to his feet]

Chaske - Chaske. (pronounced "Cha ska")

DM - Let me have a look at your back. [pulls Chaske's shirt up briefly] There's a doctor in the next town. Come on.

Chaske - No! White man will have no medicine for me. I will be fine. [turns, collapses to his knees]

DM - Sure you will. Come on. [helps Chaske to his feet again] Come on.

Stanley Park 4

<Mikey - [sitting on bench, studying his toy train] Broken.

DM - Want me to fix it for you? [Mikey hands train and broken wheel to him.] Let's see. [slides wheel on axle] Well. [looks on ground for missing axle cap to hold wheel in place]> CUT So where did you live before, Mikey? [Flashes of Alex working on motorcycle in junkyard.]

Mikey - In a house. [starts rocking back & forth] Argentina has twenty-one thousand miles of railroad track.

DM - Yeah, but where? [Flashes of gutted interior of empty school bus at junkyard.]

Mikey - In a room. Mexico: sixteen thousand miles of track.

DM - Were there other people in the house? [Flashes of Helen screaming.]

Mikey - Nobody's home. Brazil: eighteen thousand miles. Chile: five thousand miles!

DM - It's okay, Mikey. It's all right. It's okay. <[finishes tightening axle cap] There you go. All fixed.

Mikey - Oh.

DM - [hands train to him] Here.

Mikey - Thank you. [stands, ambles away]

RR - Look how happy you made him. So what do you think?> CUT

DM - [watches Mikey walking] Someone had to be taking care of him. [offscreen, as Mikey walks through parking lot] That's obvious.

RR - Do you think it was an Immortal?

DM - [shakes his head] We may never know. A

[Mikey walks to parked pickup with empty 5-gallon water bottles stacked in the bed. He opens the tailgate & bottles fall to the ground.]

Deliver man - Hey, what the-- [walks up to truck as Mikey backs away] You idiot! What's the matter with you?

Mikey - Don't yell at me! I don't like it when people yell at me!

RR - [as DM starts picking up bottles] It's okay. It's okay, Mikey. [to man] We'll take care of it. We'll take care of it.

<Deliver man - What's the matter with him? CUT

DM - He's fine.

RR - Don't worry about this, sir. We'll put all the bottles back. We'll have it all taken care of for you. Right away.>

[Mikey wanders off again. DM & RR pile bottles back in the pickup bed. Mikey walks through park, B hears train whistle.]

Mikey - [enters enclosure & approaches small-scale ride-on train] Orient Express. Paris, Istanbul. Istanbul, Paris. Most famous train in the whole world.

[meanwhile]

DM - [looks around] Where is he?

[DM & RR take off to look for Mikey.]

[at same time]

Mikey - [senses 'buzz' as Tyler King approaches] "King of trains. Train of kings." [to King] Orient Express.

King - [takes toy train from Mikey] You like trains? [Mikey grabs train back, nods.] Fantastic. I know a place where you can ride a train all day long. Come on. [Mikey considers this, then climbs into seat on locomotive of kids' train.] Where do you think you're going?

Mikey - King of Trains. [pushes control lever & train starts moving] 1 Orient Express. [blows train whistle] Strasbourg, Vienna, Munich.

Anderson - [runs up] What are you doing on there?

Mikey - Budapest. [Anderson reaches in & pulls lever to stop train.] Hey! [shoves Anderson away]

Anderson - What are you -- crazy?

RR - Mikey!

Mikey - Richie! Richie! [bounces on train seat, excited] Orient Express!

Anderson - Get him off my train!

DM - It's all right. We'll handle it.

RR - Come on, Mikey. Get down from there. Come on. Come on. Come on. Let's go. [leads Mikey away]

Anderson - You could have broken it!

DM - But he didn't, did he?

RR - Let's go, Mikey.

Anderson - A lunatic like that should be locked up somewhere.

DM - Yeah, well, he won't bother you anymore.

Mikey - It's not -- it's not even the real Orient Express.

RR - Come on, Mikey. Let's go. Let's go.

ACT TWO

Dojo 0

[Two men in fencing outfits are fencing as Mikey, RR, & DM enter.]

Mikey - [runs toward them] No! No!

DM - [runs after him] Mikey, it's all right! Mikey!

Mikey - No, no.

DM - They're only playing a game. It's okay, Mikey.

Mikey - [grabs fencer's facemask] You okay? Okay?

DM - Mikey, it's all right. It's all right. [pushes him away from fencer] They're playing a game. No one's hurt.

RR - It's a game. Here's your train. It's okay. You all right? Just a game. Friendly game. [leads Mikey toward elevator] Go upstairs. You all right? 2

Loft above dojo 0

RR - I don't know. I don't know what to do with him.

DM - We're going to have to find somewhere where he's not going to get into trouble.

RR - I know. I know. I just keep asking myself why we met up on that road. You know, why at that exact moment he was there. Mac, it's like maybe it happened for a reason.

DM - You think you're supposed to take care of him?

RR - Maybe. [looks over at Mikey sitting on couch]

Mikey - [waves] Hi, Richie.

RR - [waves back] Hi, Mikey. [to DM] I mean, look at him, Mac. Look. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

DM - Yeah, but Richie, he's not a puppy. He's a man, and he's an Immortal. What do you think would've happened if... if we hadn't been there? CUT

RR - But we were.

DM - We won't always be. Are you ready to dedicate your life to him? Twenty-four hours a day, every day, forever? Because that's what it's going to take.

RR - So what do you want to do, lock him up?

DM - No. I want him safe.

RR - All right. I'm going to go talk to a couple social workers I know.

DM - Good idea.

RR - [walks over to Mikey] Hey, Mikey.

Mikey - Hey.

RR - Listen, uh, I'm going to go out for a while. I've got some things to do. But you can help Mac look after the place?

Mikey - I'm a good helper.

RR - I know you are. I'll see you later. [leaves]

DM - [approaches Mikey with a glass of milk & plate of cookies] Want some milk, Mikey? [Mikey takes glass & a cookie.]

Mikey - [points at US map on coffee table] Two Silver trains through Carolina.

DM - Well, that's interesting. Where exactly was it that you came from? Do you know?

Mikey - [puts down glass & cookie, stands up] Silver Meteor and Silver Star.

DM - Mikey, come on. Talk to me.

Mikey - [starts walking around restlessly] Split at Selma -- uh, share same route again after Savannah.

DM - What happened, Mikey? [Flash of Mikey trying to quiet Helen & accidentally killing her.]

Mikey - CUT Mikey's fault! Always Mikey's fault.

DM - It's all right. [Both sense 'buzz'.] Mikey, you stay here. It's going to be all right. It'll be all right. [goes to elevator]

Empty dojo 0

[King hides in corner by elevator, swings sword around as DM lifts grate. DM parries with katana.]

King - Well, well, well, what have we here?

DM - We have Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod.

King - Fantastic. Tyler King. Now, you give him to me, and you'll live for another day, Duncan.

<DM - CUT Sorry, Tyler.>

King - Do yourself a favor. Beat it. I'm not here for you.

DM - Well, if you're here for him, then you are here for me.

King - CUT Right. Have you talked to him? He's lunch meat. He's barely a blip on the EEG.

DM - He thinks, he feels. He's got as much right to life as even you do.

[Mikey peeks through doorway at them.]

King - What life? He's going to get whacked soon enough. Why not by me?

DM - Because I say so.

<King - CUT Sorry, I missed that.> [attacks]

Mikey - [watches them fight a moment, then runs forward] No! No, stop! Stop! No! [gets in DM's way as King continues to attack] CUT

<DM - [pushes Mikey away] Mikey, go! Get out of here! [knocks King down, goes after Mikey] Mikey?>

Outside dojo

[DM drives off in T-Bird to look for Mikey.]

Streets of Seacouver 5

CUT

Mikey - [wandering along sidewalk] Trains. Train of kings. Train of kings!

Pedestrian - Get away from me.

[DM drives around, looking for Mikey.]

Mikey - [wanders into street intersection] Train? Track twenty-nine. Leaving station. All aboard! All aboard! [Cars veer around him, honking.] All aboard! All aboard! All aboard!

[A police car hits Mikey, screeches to a halt.]

Officer Moyle - [jumps out, runs to Mikey] You all right? Come on.

Officer Vitale - [helps pull Mikey to his feet] Man, you all right?

Mikey - You hurt me! [He pushes Vitale away. Moyle grabs him, pushes him against hood of car.]

Officer Moyle - This guy's crazy. [as Vitale handcuffs Mikey] Hurry up!

[DM drives up as the cops are loading Mikey into squad car.]

Flashback - McKewansville, 1868 6

[Super: McKewansville 1868]

[DM & Chaske ride into town on DM's horse. The townspeople stare and mutter.]

Chaske - They -- they hate me.

DM - We're not here to make friends. As soon as you're patched up, we'll be on our way. [continues riding down main street. Lockport exits YARNELL'S, walks past lady holding basket, past girl in checkered shirt.] Excuse me, ma'am. Could you direct me to the doctor's office? [Woman points.] Thank you kindly. [rides on, a crowd of grim-faced townspeople following behind him. 3 He approaches the doctor's office, stops horse, helps Chaske dismount.]

Doc Hobbs - [comes out of office as DM halts horse & helps Chaske dismount] I'm sorry, but, uh, you can't bring him in here.

DM - You took an oath, didn't you?

Doc Hobbs - You're just asking for trouble, mister. The Indian Wars left a lot of bad feelings in these parts.

Man in crowd - Doc, if you know what's good for you, you'll leave him alone. You best leave him alone.

Doc Hobbs - [as DM & Chaske climb the steps to his office] Half the town lost friends or relatives to the Cheyenne.

Chaske - I'm sorry to hear that. But I'm not Cheyenne.

Lockport - What the hell is going on here, Doc?

DM - We've got an injured man here.

Doc Hobbs - [looks at Chaske, at DM] Come with me. [takes Chaske inside]

DM - I'll keep an eye on things outside.

Man in crowd - What are you doing there, Doc?

DM - [to crowd] How you folks doing? [gets no response]

Men in crowd - Hey, mister. What do you think you're doing here? Get him out of here! Come on!

[DM watches through window as Doc Hobbs tends to Chaske's wounds.]

Streets of Seacouver 5

(resume previous scene)

[Squad car drives off. DM runs back to T-Bird to follow.]

ACT THREE

Outside 7 (this version of this scene is not in the domestic cut - see below)

[DM & RR are near some greenhouse-looking buildings, walking toward a parking lot. RR is carrying a paper sack.]

RR - How could they do this to him, Mac? He's not a criminal. They didn't have to throw him in jail.

DM - Well, that's what cops usually do when someone assaults them.

RR - Couldn't they see that he was different?

DM - It's hard to be objective when someone's attacking you.

RR - Well, if King hadn't shown up, it never would have happened.

DM - Then something else would have.

RR - Mac, whose side are you on anyway?

DM - I'm not on anybody's side. This isn't about whether I like Mikey, or whether he's gentle, or -- or whether he has a good soul. It's about the reality of his life.

RR - The guy doesn't have a life. Don't you think he deserves one?

DM - Of course I do.

RR - Well, then we have to figure out a way how to give it to him.

DM - Just like that?

RR - Just like that. We can make it work.

DM - Richie, we're Immortals. We're not gods.

RR - Which means?

DM - It means we can't give him a life he doesn't have, no matter how much we want to.

RR - That's not fair.

DM - I know it's not.

RR - You think it's all random? Who's going to be beautiful... who's going to be smart? Who's going to be like Einstein, and who's going to be... like Mikey?

DM - It depends what century you're asking me about, Richie. Right now I think there's some sort of plan going on. I just don't know what it is.

RR - How old do you think he is?

DM - I don't know, and I don't think he does either.

[They reach the T-Bird.]

RR - CUT Sometimes I look at him, Mac, and I see something more though. I really believe a part of him knows what he is.

DM - Maybe he does, but that doesn't change anything.

RR - Let's just get him out of there.

DM - And then what?

RR - I don't know. I'm working on it.

DM - I hope so. [gets in T-Bird] 4

Alley near police station 8 (this is NOT in the DVD version!)

[DM is standing beside parked T-bird as RR walks up, carrying paper sack.]

RR - What's up?

DM - He took on two cops on a crowded street.

RR - Never would have happened if King hadn't shown up.

DM - Yeah, but something else would have.

RR - All right. Let's just get him out of here.

DM - Then what?

RR - I don't know. I'm working on it. [walks toward station]

DM - I hope so. 5

Establishing shot: police station 9

Metropolitan Police Station - jail cell 0

[Mikey is sitting on floor of cell, rocking. Jailor leads DM & RR to Mikey's cell, unlocks door. 6 Jailor opens cell door, lets DM & RR in.]

DM - Mikey?

Mikey - [to himself] Trans-Siberian Express -- six thousand miles long.

DM - Mikey, it's me -- Duncan.

Mikey - [not reacting] Moscow to Vladivostok. Track completed, 1916.

DM - Talk to him, Richie.

Flashback - McKewansville, 1868 - doctor's office 6

(continue previous scene)

[DM watches through window as Doc Hobbs tends to Chaske's wounds. Doc swabs Chaske's back with cotton ball.]

Men in crowd - [from outside] Bring the Indian out here. Kill him. {??} Bring 'im out here. You're finished in this town. Get that Indian out here. Indian, come out here.

[Doc Hobbs goes over to side table. Chaske moves to window.]

Men in crowd - [from outside] There he is. Come on out, boy. Come out here. 7

Lockport - [walking through crowd] Come on! What are ya'll waiting for? Hmm? Let's kick this Indian's red ass out of town.

DM - Why?

Lockport - What do you mean, "why"?

DM - Well, what exactly about him don't you like? His hair? Or maybe his clothes?

Lockport - Are you making fun of me, mister?

DM - Someone should.

Men in crowd - You show him. You show him what for.

[Inside doctor's office, Chaske sneaks past Doc's turned back.]

Lockport - You're asking for trouble, mister.

DM - Now, excuse me. I don't think I asked for that at all, as I remember.

Sheriff - Afternoon. There some kind of problem here?

DM - No, no problem. I just brought a friend in to have his wounds seen to.

Lockport - He's a damn Injun.

Men in crowd - Is that right? Get him out of here.

[meanwhile]

[Chaske sneaks out back of doctor's office, past some Chinese men washing laundry.]

Chinese men - [in Chinese] {??}

[at same time]

[Sheriff steps up to join DM in front of doctor's office.]

Sheriff - You could have picked a friendlier town.

Man in crowd - Get my gun.

DM - So I hear.

Man in crowd - You know he should die!

Sheriff - He with the Doc?

DM - Yeah. 8 Soon as he's fit to ride, we'll move on.

[Sheriff nods.]

[meanwhile, behind stores]

[Chaske sneaks past wagon, 9 to hitching post where a horse is tied.]

Spice - [laughs] Stop there, you worthless bastard. And this time you won't be walking away.

[He grabs Chaske, struggles with him, staggering toward the main street. As they come into view of the crowd, a gunshot rings out & Spice falls down. Chaske is holding Spice's gun. The crowd turns at the sound & moves toward them.]

Sheriff - Drop the gun, son.

DM - Chaske, do as he says. You'll be all right. [Chaske drops gun.] He kept Chaske as a slave. He nearly whipped him to death until I stopped him.

Sheriff - He'll have lots of time to explain his side to the jury. [to Chaske] Hold it right there. You're gonna have to come with me.

DM - [as Chaske backs away] Chaske, don't. [Chaske runs. Sheriff starts to raise his gun & DM blocks him.] No!

Lockport - [shoots Chaske with his rifle, shrugs] Murderer trying to escape. [DM punches him.]

Mikey - [joins them] I don't want to go without you, Richie.

RR - It's in the country, Mikey. You'll be safe.

Mikey - No bad men?

RR - No bad men.

Mikey - You coming?

RR - We'll come visit.

Mikey - [takes cap off] I'll stay here. [sits in chair]

DM - Mikey, have you ever been to a real switching yard?

Mikey - Never been there before.

Mikey - Coast Starlight. Twenty-two tunnels.

RR - That's the one, big guy.

Mikey - Let's go! [senses 'buzz', stops & balls fists as DM & RR look around. King steps into view.] Bad man! [points]

Marvin - Down on the ground! Now!

CUT

[DM walks along tracks, carrying RR's jacket. He senses a 'buzz'.]

DM - Richie!

RR - Mac. Oh, boy, am I glad to see you.

Mikey - Hi.

RR - Come on. Let's get Mikey up to St. Simon's before there's any more trouble. Come on.

DM - You forgot your coat. [pulls RR a short distance away] Mikey can't go to St. Simon's.

RR - It wasn't his fault, Mac. He was scared. You'd understand if you'd have been there.

DM - I was. One of the cops is dead. Mikey broke his neck. Now they'll never stop looking for him. [hands RR his jacket, walks toward Mikey]

Mikey - [looks around, backing up nervously] Old Dominion makes nine stops -- Washington to Newport News.

DM - Mikey, what happened to the people that were taking care of you?

Mikey - Nine! Makes nine stops -- Washington, Newport News. Two stops in -- in -- in--

DM - Mikey.

Mikey - Bad man came and Alan said "Quiet."

DM - Did bad man hurt Alan, Mikey?

[Mikey nods. RR watches with heartbroken espression.]

Mikey - Helen was making a lot of noise.

DM - What happened to her, Mikey?

Mikey - I did what Alan said. I always listen to Alan. I didn't do anything bad. I made Helen quiet. I said -- I said, "Get up, Helen. Get up, Helen."

DM - It's okay, Mikey. It's okay. [walks back over to RR] <You can't hide him, and he can't be in a cell forever. CUT He's Immortal. What are we supposed to do with him?>

RR - Mac, I'll do something. I'll get a place far away. Mac, please!

DM - Alan and Helen tried that.

RR - Damn... Damn... Damn! There is no place for him.

DM - I'll do it. [walks toward Mikey]

RR - No, Mac. [follows him] Wait, Mac. Wait. I'll do it. He's my responsibility. [walks toward Mikey, falsely cheerful] Come on, Mikey. Come with me. I want to show you something.

Mikey - Where -- Where are we going?

RR - Yeah, come on, Mikey. Let's go look at the tunnel.

Mikey - [hears train whistle] Oh, a train, Richie?

RR - Yeah, Mikey. A train.

Mikey - [walks down tracks with RR] Yeah. Yeah, a train.

RR - Um, it must be the Coast Starlight.

Mikey - Coast Starlight? I've never seen Coast Starlight! [They walk into the train tunnel. RR stops. Mikey continues on a bit, then stops & turns to look back at RR.]

RR - [pulls out his sword] I'm sorry, Mikey.

[Mikey turns & runs down tunnel. RR follows. Mikey stops & turns back, holding his hands up to stop RR.]

Mikey - I didn't mean to hurt anybody, Richie.

RR - I know.

[As train enters tunnel, Mikey kneels beside the tracks.]

RR - Mikey...

Mikey - Don't worry, Richie! I'm okay. I'm okay. Look, not -- not even scared. [lies down with his head on the rail, smiles bravely] Mikey go see King of Trains.

[RR can only watch as the train thunders past. Outside the tunnel, DM watches the train pass, listens as RR takes Mikey's Quickening.]

DM - Sure. You okay?

RR - Yeah.

DM - You want to talk about it?

RR - What's there to say?
