Tugalong & Sydney

Day 10: Mon, June 14 - depart Adelaide to Sydney
After breakfast, you will have the morning free to relax or finish packing before departing for the Adelaide Airport at 11:30 am. Depart for Sydney on Australian Airlines flight at 12:50 pm. Arrive Sydney 3:00 pm.

On arrival into Sydney, you will be met by a Thomas Cook representative who will assist with boarding the coach. Transfer by coach to the hotel. Dinner this evening is at the hotel.

   Accomodation:
   The Waratah Central Hotel
   22-44 Albion Street
   Surrey Hills 2010
   Tel: (02) 281-0333, Fax: (02) 281-0222

I got both of these photos at the photo-exchange. I don't know which night in Sydney we actually visited the Hard Rock Cafe.

Day 11: Tues, June 15 - depart Sydney to Tugalong
A continental breakfast is served in the hotel. Depart the hotel by coach via the southern suburbs of the city to the Southern Highlands, only 2 1/2 hours' drive from Sydney. Following a short introduction to Tugalong Station, lunch will be served. This afternoon a four-wheel drive expedition to the river and a guided bush walk are planned. Tonight a wildlife spotting adventure is scheduled.

DRESS FOR THE DAY: Outdoor gear, raincoat, etc. It can get very cold in the Highlands, approximately in mid-40's F in the evenings.

At the end of the wildlife viewing trip, we were taken to a clearing. We were far enough away from any cities that there was no light pollution at all and the stars were incredible. 'Diamonds on black velvet' sounds cliche, but that's truly what they looked like.

Day 12: Wed, June 16 - depart Tugalong to Sydney
This morning after breakfast, the morning is at leisure. (There is a chance for optional horseback riding for those who would like to participate. Additional cost of AUD $20.00 per person.)

DRESS FOR THE DAY: Neat Casual - tennis shoes acceptable.

Day 13: Thurs, June 17 - Sydney - sightseeing
Today is full of sightseeing in Sydney. Australia's oldest and largest city, it is also the state capital of New South Wales.

Your first stop is a guided tour of the Opera House and a visit to Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, where there is a perfect opportunity for a group photo with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House as a back drop. Next it's on to the Sydney Aquarium. After lunch, walk to the Powerhouse Museum for plenty of time to explore this "hands on" museum.

We visited things in a different order than described in the 'Schedule of Activities'.

Our first stop was to the beach to watch lifeguards from the Bondi Surf Club demonstrate rescue techniques.
Then we went to the museum. This is a model of the Strasburg clock. Flash photography wasn't allowed.

Then we visited the Sydney Aquarium.
There's a lobster hiding under a rock here.

Pufferfish - another from the photo-exchange
Most likely from the Sydney Aquarium.

We visited the Opera House last, before returning to the hotel to change for the cruise.
